The Amazing Mind of Us Humans
Centuries ago there were no jet airplanes, no fax machines, no internet, no computers, no telephones. How is it that the human mind, one are of the world to another area of the world, came up with similar solutions to common problems. It amazes me when I think about our foods. A few curious oddities? The uniqueness and inventiveness of the human mind? Consider the following.
Ravioli, pelmenyi (Russian), won ton – savory filings, wrapped in dough (true rice dough in China is different than wheat dough in Italy or Russia), boiled and served.
Enchiladas, cannelloni, spring rolls, mushi pancakes, burritos – wrap tasty food in an oblong tube of thin dough and bake it, sauce it, or fry it, dip it, or just wrap it and enjoy.
Pizza, flatbreads of the middle east, tortillas, Ethiopian bread – flat dough’s grilled loaded with tasty stuff.
These cultures, Asian, Northern European, Mediterranean, African, Central American, all these people, while trying to feed themselves, came up with similar dishes, and did it before there was any or very little cross cultural communication.
It is truly amazing how the human mind functions in different parts of the world finding similar solutions to similar issues. I find it to be fascinating.
Enjoy them all.
